The landscape is getting greyer, flatter. The more you murder your feelings the less there is around you. For better or worse as the man said, the place reflects you to some degree.

Only the man seems to retain his colors fully.

Anyway the landscape twists a little nightmarishly at the horror, before blurring a bit like an impressionist painting as if trying to spare Dusk from seeing it.

The man doesn't seem to see the need to repeat himself though.

The landscape appears to be attempting to escape. That is, it's fading into a pastel greyish blur.
