SO so. B. B is one of Phoenix's favorite people, one of the first people he's really considered a friend and someone to rely on so... Wow his feelings on B are both complicated and straight forward. The simple part is, he likes B. No frills, no questions asked, he believes B is a really kind, smart person facing a tough situation and so he really admires him.
The complicated part comes with everything else. Between the trauma game and B's memory he feels like a complete failure as a friend. He couldn't protect B and he couldn't even comfort him, instead he keeps getting cheered up by B while being unable to contribute up cheering B up? Feels real bad. ON TOP OF THAT between B, E and H teasing him or telling him he's a monster or stuffy or whatever he's getting a little insecure, like maybe he's just bad at interacting and that's why he seems so useless at cheering up his friends.
He isn't even sure if just asking B straight "how do I be a better friend to you" will work but he might ask E for advice on that.
Basically he adores B but is also like ??????? at him. How do you work B?? How do I make myself a better friend for you???
General feelings aside he's got a shit ton of guilt about the game so that's also like, weighing on his ability to be as upfront. At the same time he's still really happy to come be AlcheME's maid especially if it cheers any of them up??
Please actually laugh at him B that's much better than smiling uncomfortably. He'd rather be the butt of jokes than the object of too cheerful smiles.
He has zero idea that B thinks he's hot even though B has said it. It's obviously a joke? Even if it's not it's not something he parses as reality, nor is B having anything like a romantic feeling for him. Which is funny because he would probably have a crush on B if he noticed these things.
He likes Phoenix a lot but he's also. Weird. He's so kind and thoughtful and physically touchy! All things he wants and needs. But he exceeds the levels he's comfortable with and has no limiter. So he can quickly go from okay this is cute and nice if a little oh no~ to WOW IM OVERWHELMED. YIKES. Yikes!!!
There's also just this weird. He's spent a decent amount of time with Phoenix but he doesn't know a lot about who he is other than Nice and that weirds him out. he has this with E a bit but chalks that up to like. E is so powerful he is our strongest lie boy!!! But Phoenix is not a lie boy so???? Its very confusing and he's kind of frustrated with that since he's mostly been pretty good at like. Getting people. And this time he is just. ????
Honestly he latched onto the nickname sadist partly because that poking and prodding part of his personality is his most distinctive trait. THATS WEIRD YOURE WEIRD
But he likes to hang out with him and I guess also boy u hot. SIGH.
Phoenix's Ideal Game or your ideal game for Phoenix
PERSEPHONE is cute! They need to talk more but Phoenix is just like, this person seems very soft and also introverted. But also really kind! Because his first impression is still of Persephone doing his best to help newbie Phoenix by taking him somewhere quiet and safe.
He would love to just hang out and get to know Persephone, maybe have tea together some time. Do something really quiet and low key that seems to be Persephone's jam. He's kind of consumed by his unit's drama with things atm but he still has make friends with everyone goals and Persephone is definitely on the list.
Three things to keep in mind with Persephone: 1) he's never really had friends ever in his life, so he doesn't get this Friendship thing, 2) he doesn't trust or like people very easily, and 3) at least for right now, he's nice to everyone, even people he doesn't trust or like.
And he doesn't dislike Phoenix? But he finds him somewhat exhausting, and he doesn't trust him. Persephone is slow to trust and he kind of doeesn't trust anyone on Bad End=Dead End who was in the game. He totally understands that it was a mistake, but why go right for the risky option? Why gamble on the risky option? And more importantly, why not change your mind with the messages you got back? Mistakes happen. Bad plays happen. On purpose bad plays happen, especially if you're trying to protect your unit. But that kind of reckless behavior?
So that's where he kind of is on Phoenix, and it's probably not changing any time soon. Especially because he likes Kazuebiko, and...yeah. That being said, he'll still be willing to like, get to know him and he'll still be pleasant and nice and kind.
This was Phoenix's second game ever so he's like, yikes about everything because he didn't really understand... Anything about games until now but now he's like, hm, well that fuck up has taught me a lot! And the thing is he knows deeply he's gonna have a harder time with his make every friend!! Goal, but that doesn't bother him exactly, because the goal is just to personally befriend everyone it's not a PR thing so if it takes a million years or some people just don't like him he'll be sad but not upset.
Mainly he is kind of down about how it'll be hard for people to trust him, and yet he feels he's earned that (He probably has not earned that, the main reason he went the way he did on that game was he's so new, he would have argued different tactics if he weren't so baby) and he's the type to just be like "Well I should face my mistakes head on" mostly so charging... Forward. Taking on way more responsibility from the game than he probably has any right to, but he doesn't want to seem like he's running away from taking responsibility so... He's ready to face any consequences. Friendship consequences are the worst though, but he's gonna make Persephone go on a tea date with him regardless! He may never know he's not trusted too, but he wouldn't really be shocked if he was ever told.
Like Persephone wouldn't really let him know? Like the closest he came was telling Nine-Nine after the game that were he in Taisho or Alcheme's shoes that he wouldn't forgive them. like it wouldn't be fair and he acknowledges that but he also like, loves his unitmates more than his life. (and said it in those words). And honestly Persephone's scale of liking people is kind of broken anyway. Like even if the game hadn't gone down the way it did, he still wouldn't like...trust him for a while, but that's because he's not on sensitiv. Sorry not sorry.
Poor Phoenix, though.
Tea dates would be cute. I assume Phoenix would pay for the tea? (Persephone doesn't remember yet but after he Exalted, he usually like conned dudes into buying him dinner and stuff. so what's paying for his own shit???).
Yeah he's the type to pamper others and if he's asking someone to join him naturally he should be paying?? He's pretty naturally chivalrous. And he likes tea and quiet company a lot. He likes pretty much everything honestly, he's very laid back and ready to do most activities but tea and cute company is really calming.
Sanguine! His first impression of Sanguine is a good quiet kind of boy, and that's still mostly the same but he knows him a little better. Fire one, Sanguine talks to flowers? Might be from the same place as Boss? Plays the guitar?
But for another he's realizing Sanguine has deep guilt and responsibility issues that he can relate to but Sanguine copes by avoiding and internalizing (He does not really realize he also internalizes but he can sympathize) so he really wants to keep an eye on Sanguine. Sanguine is obviously not doing the hottest after that game, and looked pretty ready to avoid people FOREVER, so he's going to try to encourage Sanguine to get out more and make more friends!
He thinks Sanguine is a very good person with a very good heart who wants to do the right thing, but equates making mistakes with just being a bad person. So that's worrying!
First of all, I'm not saying that Sanguine has a crush on Phoenix— but I'll be damned if the potential for a crush isn't there.
Phoenix has this sort of quiet earnestness to him that Sanguine really admires. Despite being the newest to their unit, he feels like he fits— like he was always meant to be there with them. To Sanguine, Phoenix is the kind of guy you can feel yourself automatically wanting to trust, and that he wouldn't break that trust easily— he seems very reliable. And he's just the right amount of pushy without pushing too hard that works best for Sanguine, or at least he has been so far.
Is it possible for Phoenix to go all berserker without the nifty palette swap?
E YOU'RE FULL OF SHIT. But cute. Also he's gonna ask E in a date because B told him to and it'll be romantic but he won't realize. Rip E.
For real though he likes W a lot and would call him out and poke him more given the opportunity. Though in general alcheme bullying him about how he interacts has made him kind of insecure of calling people out? Even more so after giving up and hitting Alcheme with PERMANENT EFFECTS.
He's curious about E, the mysterious and cute playboy sniper who is full of shit but also obviously a kind person? He finds E easy to get along with and not stressful to talk to but also like, fairly confusing. Most of alcheme is fairly confusing?? He wants to be able to talk to E more on more emotional levels! But surely he'll get there if they keep being friends! And he does consider E a friend though he's not sure how E feels about him because E?? At the very least he thinks E is kind to him because E doesn't seem to mind him.
Honestly he is like, he is actually getting a crush on phoenix. B is correct when he says that is true. But he's also just like .... nnnnnno i can't get attached to anyone. He's barely attached to his own team like-- He IS but he also doesn't want to be Vulnerable with them because his image of like, strong reliable impossible to ruffle senpai-niichan is like. important to him because it seems to be important to them.
He's kind of worried about Phoenix being nosy not because he himself is like... afraid of it but he knows that at the VERY least, C and A get mean when you prod them too much and B can sometimes also get mean when he's defensive so he's like... boy you are gonna get snapped at.
Would absolutely kiss. Like with no question. It's problematic.
HIRYUU!!! He feels pretty comfortable with Hiryuu because they're very similar and very on the same wavelength but also different enough! She reminds him a lot of Towa even though he doesn't remember that. Tiny fierce girl who supports everyone and is genuinely sweet and kind and does so much??
Hiryuu is different to Towa in a lot of ways too, and again since he doesn't remember Towa he's just forming his own admiration/friendship with Hiryuu not really colored by anything but the fact that she's herself! And he admires that!
Sometimes he thinks she's a little too intense? But he likes intense people. He himself is so mellow and laid-back most of the time when he doesn't have THING TO DO that high energy is pretty refreshing. It's not that he doesn't also NEED TO ACTION for his own mental sanity but they have different ways and approaches. He finds her perspectives valuable even when he doesn't agree, and he likes that they can just have a conversation about feelings and beliefs, lay it out there, and discuss things. He thrives on just talking and absorbing other perspectives, even ones he doesn't agree with.
For the most part they do seem to agree really fundamentally though.
He is worried about her? The whole team mediator thing seems exhausting and she's got a lot on her plate. So he's definitely like, girl, take a break, delegate, sit down and eat a cookie?? Someone needs to fuss over her like she fusses over everyone else, but he doesn't know if HSS is doing that or not so he's not going to presume she doesn't get that or anything. Just fret?
Her initial impressions of Phoenix were that he was a cute younger-brother type, shy and uncertain of himself. He seemed a little overwhelmed, and she was worried that if he didn't find his own two feet he might founder a bit. She doesn't really have anyone close to her in canon that's very like him, so it's kind of a new relationship type? Which is interesting for me because NEW THINGS!!
Subsequent interactions have had her reevaluating those impressions, or rather... fine-tuning them. Obviously he really does have some confidence / self-image issues, but actually when he talks about himself he's quite assertive of his opinions/thoughts/feelings. He's also able to take the things you say and twist them against you to punch you in the feels, which isn't something she's necessarily very familiar with being on the receiving end, so it's kind of refreshing for me to see her get bullied some a little in return.
Fundamentally, they do get along, but Hiryuu is fairly certain that she is a worse person than him by far, what with their current conversation. Not that she's pro MURDER DEFENSELESS PEOPLE because obviously that's not the case. Buuuuuttt her self-esteem is always shaky at best and she very easily sees the worst in herself and she believes that if it had been her in that situation, she would have done whatever it took to keep those men from taking/hurting her precious people. It's actually really hard to say what she would do definitively, it's very Circumstances Dependent, but you know. But she's very much of the thought that sometimes you just have to Kill a Bad Person, and she also leans further to the side that you just shouldn't necessarily feel bad for that, even if that person also has loved ones. :/ shruuuuggo
Anyway, part of why she wants him to be her advisor is because she thinks that he's a better person than her, and since she's afraid to ask Hak for mmmmuch of anything at this point, she's just floundering around for someone to keep her on the Right Path, whatever it is, and sort of sees Phoenix as that possible moral pillar.
He's really right to be worried about her, not even necessarily because of the mediator thing although that is PART of it, but she needs a timeout and a cookie and maybe a good cry? The more she looks and pokes, the more it seems like things are either on fire or about to become on fire. So more people to sit on her and force her to do that would not be a bad thing.
Someday I want the two of them to join forces to destroy everyone with platonic flirting/compliments/dere. I think there would be pretty much nothing left, especially if she used buddy bond.
Yasuragi seems very calm! Someone at the very least reasonable and somewhat calculated? Not necessarily in a bad way, but someone who has a more intellectual response than a gut emotional one. It comes off a little cold but he doesn't think the guy is actually cold, though he's not sure what he's basing it off of except that Yasuragi seemed more stressed than like, coldly controlled. Plus he's a great dancer? That's Phoenix's first impression.
He'd like to talk to him more in better circumstances, he definitely realizes he added more stress to Yasuragi's life.
Yasuragi was definitely surprised he was so understanding when he asked him to leave because like, if you understand that easily why didn't you just leave as soon as people started yelling at you. but ultimately Phoenix seems like a very soft and friendly guy with his heart in the right place who just wants to get along with everyone. honestly Yasuragi holds absolutely nothing against Bad End for their choices in the game so he was just trying to run damage control by getting him out of the room. he is also invested in preserving/regaining... good relations between Taisho and Bad End to a certain extent so that's a large part of why he then tried to be comforting (to whatever degree of... success he achieved in that... he's not a very comforting person) but it is also partly just because Yasuragi is impulsively a "respond in kind" sort of person, and Phoenix was clearly trying to do right by Yasuragi and by Taisho as a whole. tbh Phoenix did not really add to his stress much lol and he's already calmed down a lot just because his main worry in the game (Shu losing his drive or idealism or being replaced with a completely different person) didn't actually come true, so in a way having an excuse to step out and not deal with his own unitmates' feelings for a minute or two was nice. even if he then was dealing with Phoenix's feelings, but those were a bit easier. he's not as bad at handling guilt,
all in all, he had a positive impression of Phoenix to begin with at their first meeting but that was just in a kind of hands-off, objective way, whereas now he has more of an involved positive impression but does also suspect Phoenix is just a person who can't help himself and needs to involve himself if he sees someone else upset. which isn't something he definitely thinks of as good or bad just yet, but he may end up a little weak to it in the future honestly
I realized I can make everyone tell me their thoughts on Mukuro/plot shit so if Phoenix has any thoughts there I want those also
