Yasuragi does make a number of unfavorable plays in what he chooses to do with his cards, especially to begin with, but on the flip side the more comfortable he gets with the rule set, the better he’s able to guess how confident Sanguine is with his hands and call him on bluffs, and the more absurdly impenetrable his own dead poker face becomes. he definitely seems to be having fun though. ]

[ Whether he's winning or losing, Sanguine genuinely seems to be enjoying himself-- it's clearly not about how he does, he just enjoys playing.

....His poker face is at least better when actually playing poker than it is when he's trying to lie outside of card games, but it's still probably easy for someone as perceptive as Yasuragi can be to pick up his tells. ]

I thought I’d let you make the first bid. I tend towards weightier bets, if left unchecked.

How does fifty points sound to you?

[ my first bet against Intensity I went for 700 ]

Fifty sounds reasonable. Then, an ante of five points per deal, we bet as we like on each hand, and the first to clean the other of their fifty wagered wins?

[ anyway he might be an amateur at cards but he is definitely not an amateur at betting. now that there are actual bids and antes involved it becomes quickly apparent that he knows how to lose some battles to win the war. a lot of his hands he folds early so Sanguine mostly wins pots of 5s and 10s off of him at a time, but the others he pendulums wildly between betting obviously aggressively or passively going along with the bids Sanguine sets to bait him up to higher amounts. lose 5, lose 5, win 30 back. if Sanguine risks it he might get cleaned out on the whole 50 in one pot. ]

[ Sanguine isn't an amateur to betting, either-- even if he doesn't remember it just yet. On the one hand, he won't play it entirely safe all the time himself. On the other hand, he's not going to risk going hard on Yasuragi's passivity unless he's fairly confident in the hand he's got-- a pretty good one, if not perfect. ]

[ eventually he starts leaning harder on betting aggressively - so it might end up reversed from the very start, with Yasuragi winning small pots of 10, 10, 10, if Sanguine doesn't challenge them ]

[ He is, at that point, going to start betting more aggressively himself. There's a point where safety isn't actually... safe. ]

[ at one point when Sanguine calls him on a pot that he’d goaded built up particularly high, he laughs aloud at the end of it and flips over a hand with absolutely nothing ]

Worth the shot. Well done. I’ll have to claw my advantage back again.

[ Not cheating is good! He's going to try a few risky bets himself, trying to see if he can catch Yasuragi off-guard. None of it's enough to lose it all, but he's definitely not playing safe anymore. ]
