Ogre: I want to hear you pronounce it so I know how to say it.
Ogre: I'll keep calling you Sanguine though if you want, but I'm glad you told me. I'm really happy to know.

sanguine: remind me to tell you in person sometime
sanguine: i really wanted to share it with you
sanguine: i do wanna switch over someday, but i think i'd like to remember it for myself first. if that makes sense?

[ There's a brief pause, and then: ]

sanguine: hey phoenix?

Ogre: It makes sense! I'll call you whatever you want until then.
Ogre: What is it?

[ Sanguine is typing...

Sanguine is typing...

Eventually, the message sends. ]

sanguine: i know there's something you're not saying about that altercation you got into because i know you aren't the kind of guy to get shaken up that easily over a fight
sanguine: and i won't force you to say anything you aren't comfortable with
sanguine: but i just want to say if you're ever up for it, i'm always willing to listen
sanguine: that's all.

[It's a bit of a pause before he starts typing a reply.]

Ogre: I know.
Ogre: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to worry you or anything.
Ogre: I just don't know how to say it without sounding worrying, either.
Ogre: I don't want it to be a big deal

sanguine: i'd rather worry about you honestly
sanguine: will it help if i promise to try not to make a big deal out of whatever it is?

Ogre: That would be great, actually.

sanguine: then it's my solemn promise to you

[Not that Sanguine can see it but, he's smiling a little at his phone, fond and melancholy.]

Ogre: Thanks. You're the best.
Ogre: So I guess

[...]

Ogre: So someone kind of almost raped me but they didn't and I'll be fine and I have a lot of new kind of intense neck scars.

[ Hmm. That's so much worse than anything he'd imagined. But he made a promise and he's a man of his word.

Even if he has just achieved a previously-unknown level of pissed off. ]

sanguine: thanks for being willing to tell me
sanguine: does this mean i should lay off of kissing your neck for a while?

[ It's a weak attempt at humour but he's trying to help Phoenix feel better at least? ]

[He appreciates it honestly.]

Ogre: Only a little while.
Ogre: I'll probably be fine after a good night's sleep.

sanguine: i know, you're a resilient guy
sanguine: want me to come back to the dorm tonight?

Ogre: Only if you feel like it.
Ogre: Though I mean, I always like having you there.

[ D-doki. ]

sanguine: i'll be there, then.

Ogre: ♥
Ogre: Thanks.

sanguine: ❤
sanguine: any time, seriously

Ogre: I might be here for a while but I'll come home tonight. Just kind of need a nap.

sanguine: that's more than fair
sanguine: lemme know when you're on your way?

Ogre: Sure. Maybe a few hours.

sanguine: I'll look forward to seeing you

Ogre: Maybe we can do some poker, I might invite the other people I need to tell.

sanguine: !!!
sanguine: i love poker, that sounds like fun

Ogre: Yeah. It sounds fun to me too.

sanguine: who else will be there?
